New Expansion!

Well, things are moving quite fast and we decided to expand The Compound Gallery & Studios! We have taken over the church that is next door to the gallery. Our goal is to have everything up and running by June 1, 2008! We are so excited about creating an opportunity for artists to not only have studio space, but to be able to have exposure and show their work in a store front. I’m also looking forward to having the time to do my own art…which will be soon!

The Introduction Show at The COMPOUND Studios & Gallery

We just finished most of the work at The Compound Studios & Gallery and we are having a group show featuring the resident artists of The Compound during the Oakland Art Murmur this Friday. The first show is titled “Introductions” and features: Garret Bock, Jason Byers, Sarah Edwards, Kerri Johnson, Marie Reich, Lena Reynoso (Me!), Matt Reynoso (My love!), Noah Sakamoto, Eric Sanchez, and Tallulah Terryll.

Opening Reception: Friday April 4, 2008.

Matt and I have acquired a new space and are opening a gallery with artist studios. This is very exciting news! The Compound Studios & Gallery is at 6604 San Pablo Ave (next door to the fabulous Blank Space Gallery!) and will be the home of many exciting future shows! We are converting an 1800 sq ft space storefront that was once a grocery store. Pictures and Details to follow soon!

7 Fabulous Performers!

I just finished printing a card collection of 7 Fabulous Performers! Each 3″x4.5″ card is handprinted (silkscreened) onto various shades of paper and are a limited edition run of only 40. The images are taken from my illustrations, and each bundle comes with: Cheng and Eng, Charles Tripp, Eli Bowen, James Coffey, Robert Earl Hughs, Prince Randian, and Johnny Eck. The pack also comes with an insert that gives brief biographical info on each performer. You can get them from me for a mere $20. Frame them, mail them, enjoy them, but get them while you can! New! Mini Tale-Type Collectible Cards

The first mini tale-type mini posters are ready to go. I started with ATU 333, Little Red Riding Hood because it was the first tale-type I memorized from my late advisor Professor Dundes. Every folklore enthusiast should collect them all! If you have suggestions for future posters, please feel free to send them my way. The sizes will stay a constant 5×7. The backs of the cards are also printed with a decorative design (see individual pages for details).

Tale-Type Mini Posters Coming Soon…

I’m working on a new series of Tale-Type mini posters. Each one will be a run of 40-100 limited edition prints (5″x7″) and the series will continue indefinitely. I’m starting with the favorite ATU 333 otherwise known as Little Red Riding Hood, and ATU 283 also known as The Spider and the Fly. If you don’t know what the ATU acronym means, or what a tale-type is, then this is the very reason why I’ve started this project…to thrust the field of folklore out into the public. What does it all mean? You will soon find out… I will update as they are completed. Here are the simple versions:

Thank you RPS, Lucky Ju Ju, and to everyone who came out to see my new work! I had one amazing evening and met so many wonderful people. We managed to snap a few photos of the RPS show, but unfortunately, we forgot to take pictures at Lucky Ju Ju. Thank you to Pete Madsen, who played some terrific guitar (Get his new CD while you can!)! I see I am liberally using exclamation points, but they are needed!

If you couldn’t make it to the openings, my work will be up through the end of the month at both locations. Thanks again!

My Art Featured In Alameda Magazine

I’m very happy that my show at the Neptune Beach Amusement Museum is featured in Alameda Magazine. Unfortunately, my name is spelled incorrectly! But I suppose “Reynosa” is not too far off from “Reynoso”….I think
