Abraham Lincoln, or “Honest Abe”, is probably one of the most recognized American Presidents. He had no formal education, no formal religious affiliation and was part of the Republican party. In 1863, he issued the Emancipation Proclamation that freed all slaves in states that had not seceded or were under the control of the North. He was the first President to be assassinated. He was the tallest President, standing at 6 feet 4 inches and had a high piercing voice that could be heard from great distances. Lincoln had a prominent wart on his right cheek and was the first President to wear a beard. An avid fan of seances, Lincoln was interested in psychic phenomena and loved the works of Edgar Allan Poe.
