Andrew Johnson became our 17th President when Lincoln was assassinated. He, therefore, did not have a Vice President. Johnson was a tailor by profession (he was sold to a tailor as a servant when he was 14) and was sometimes referred to as the “Tennessee Tailor”. Johnson was a Democrat with no official religious affiliation. Known for his large head (both physically and mentally) he was sometimes called “King Andy.” Johnson was the first President to be impeached.
