Media: Acrylic on Canvas

George Washington was our first president and served from 1789-1797. He had no formal education and was a Farmer, Federalist, Episcopalian, and a General. George would not accept any money for his services and turned down his annual $25,000 salary. He was, however, already a very wealthy man. George was extremely tall for his era and was over 6′3″ in height. He suffered from Malaria, Smallpox, and had dentures made from seahorse and hippopotamus ivory. He was not able to have children throughout his 40 year marriage, which some say kept him from becoming ‘king’.
