John Tyler took over as President when Harrison died after only 2 months in office. Because of this, Tyler is often referred to as the “His Accidency.” Tyler, like Harrison, was a Whig. Tyler was thin his entire life and often suffered from respiratory infections. It is said that after his Presidency, Tyler had to sell his corn crop in order to pay a bill for $1.25.
