Ulysses S. Grant graduated from West Point Military Academy in 1843 and was nicknamed “Hero of Appomattox.” He was a soldier, a Republican, and a Methodist. He was known to smoke about 20 cigars in one day, and his battle with throat cancer made the American Public aware of this disease. Grant was distant cousins with both President Cleveland and President Franklin Roosevelt. Grant was 5 ft. 8 inches tall and wanted to be a Professor of Mathematics.
