This painting features the great Siegrist Family, an acrobatic group that performed in the 1880’s. Isaac Sprague, also known as a “living skeleton” and was considered the original “thin man” and performed at the circus in the mid 1800’s. He had a condition called asphyxia that resulted in his thin body. He was 5′ 6″ and weight about 46 pounds.
