The mid to late 19th century was a time when all things electric were manifesting as curatives of all manner. The Electric (or Galvanic) Belt was of the most popular kind. Dr. Christie advertised his Belts as “one of the greatest curatives” and gave many testimonials to its healing powers. He then claims the authenticity of each testimonial and suggests “Truth is Stranger Than Fiction”. Dr. Sanden also marketed one of the most popular electric belts during this era. At one point, Dr. Sanden had an office at 632 Market Street in San Francisco, perhaps you can still see it….
